Easter Greetings Everyone

May you have lots of surprises and treats on this special day!

Easter Bunny Excitement

Easter is unusual this year with it falling within the school term.  Usually we start our school holidays with Easter celebrations but this year we're having the added bonus of an Easter long weekend!  Besides having a lovely time at lunchtime, enjoying our House picnic, we also had an extra dollop of fun when we returned to our classroom. The Easter Bunny had made a whistle - stop visit and he had popped some eggs for us in the baskets we had made the day before. In addition to all this, Miss Bates invited us to come down to her classroom to see the beautiful bunny she had brought to school.  We think he must have been a cousin of the Easter Bunny and we loved having a look at him!  Thanks so much for that, Miss Bates.

Our House Picnic

It is always a treat coming to school in mufti and on Thursday we wore the colours of our school Houses.  These are - Motuihe (yellow), Motutapu (blue), Rangitoto (green) and Waiheke (red).

Its a great opportunity for us to hear from our House Captains and to do some cheering for our House.  After lunch eating there were some fun games and activities organised by each house which made for a lovely time of team building.

Music Rotation

Every Wednesday afternoon throughout the term we have had a different teacher arriving in our class.  The teachers rotate and present a music lesson with a specific focus.  These include pitch, beat, dynamics, singing, playing, tempo and movement to music.

Today it was Miss Lee's turn to teach us. She introduced us to the idea of rhythm. We showed her how good we were at listening as she played the xylophone. Then we reproduced the rhythm on our instruments.

Nikitha's Special Touch

Nikitha has spoilt us regularly by bringing flowers from her garden.  We have popped these into a vase on a number of occasions but today she quietly went about putting flowers into each group's pen container without telling anyone - what a lovely surprise!!  Thanks, Nikitha, for making our tables look so pretty.  You are so thoughtful!

ICT - Kidpix

This week we used the Kidpix application to make a presentation featuring Insects.  We chose backgrounds and then drew some insects to add to the scene.  We are learning to type simple sentences too.  Here are some of the completed pieces of work.

Adorable Ana

Ana is an all-round star in Room 5!  We all look up to her and are so impressed with her wonderful attitude and impeccable behaviour.  Bravo, Ana!

A warm welcome to Greer!

We have a new friend in Room 5!  Her name is Greer and she arrived on Thursday.  Already she has settled so well and has made some special friends.
We are thrilled to have you in our class, Greer, and we hope you have a happy time learning and growing with us.
Here we are - all 25 of us, with Greer in the centre.

Two Tiny Froglets - Freddy and Zoe

It is so exciting to have two special frogs instead of tadpoles in our terrarium now. They have been named - the green one is Freddie and the brown one, Zoe.  We have re-organised the tank so that they can be on dry land now,  with the option of having a swim when they feel the urge.  They are diminutive Bell Frogs and we are having to look more carefully for them as they like to find new places to hide.  Thanks to Charlotte's dad, we have been given a supply of fruit flies for them to munch on.

Fun in the Sun

We had a short day at school on Thursday since the Parent Interviews were taking place after one o'clock.  Mrs Hayward came in to teach us for the morning and she took us down to the sandpit for a short while so we could spend time doing lots of oral language and tactile motor play.  This is all so good for us!!
