Tabloid Sports

After morning tea, it was time for all the Junior School children to gather down on the field for the tabloid sports.

There were many exciting games - parachute, bean bag catch, egg and spoon race, orca game, moonhoppers, sack races and  hoop races.

Many thanks to the wonderful parents who came to support us and for the help given to us by Ana's Mum, Evan's Mum and Herne's Mum, who also took all the photos.

Three Stripy Caterpillars

We have three new creepy crawlies in our room and they love munching on swan plants.  We are totally fascinated by them.  It's going to be exciting to watch them as they grow and change! See if you can spot two of them in the photos below.

Buddy Reading

Every Friday we are going to meet up with the Year 4 children from Room 29.  They are going to be our Buddy Readers for the year and we are going to enjoy reading to them and listening to the stories they will read to us.  Sometimes they will buddy up with us to help us with other activities too.  This Friday we're going to work on our class laptops - our Buddies will teach us how to use all the function buttons on Kidpix!

This was our first day of Buddy Reading -

Paper Bag Sharing Time

We had some more special people who shared the contents of their paper bags with us.
They are Shion,  Anton,  Natalya, Charlotte, Nikitha and Jayden.  Thank you for showing us all your interesting things.  We really enjoyed finding out more about you.

Charlotte

Congratulations to Charlotte on receiving the class certificate this week!  She is new to Point View and we are so happy to have her with us.  Her certificate is for being friendly and helpful in class. Well done, Charlotte.

Winnie the Pooh

Every week at Junior Singing we wait in anticipation to hear the name of the class who has been awarded Winnie the Pooh.  This is an award for having the tidiest cloak bay and our wonderful class have been the first to win it this year!!
Well done, Room 5!  Let's see how many times we can be the best class at keeping our classroom spic and span!

Statistics

We are learning about statistics in Maths and so far we have done lots of sorting and naming groups of objects.  We also made a graph showing the number of letters in our names.
When Benjamin brought his lion into class we chose some possible names for him and voted on the one we liked    the most. His name is "Sports Lion" now!

Sharing Time

We are enjoying sharing times in the afternoon. Corbin, Georgia, Hannah, Rochelle and Benjamin showed us their fascinating items.  We were able to guess their talents and interests by looking at the various things they had brought from home.
Corbin brought a hammer because he likes building things. Georgia brought a pen because she likes writing and drawing.  Hannah showed us a book because she loves to read.  Rochelle showed us photos of her various outdoor adventures like rafting.  Benjamin showed us photos of his two dogs and his cat.

Our Chalk Buddy Creations

We are getting to know our new classmates in Room 5 and on our first day of school we paired up to create a 'chalk buddy' outdoors.  This gave us a chance to work and talk together. Do enjoy watching the slideshow - it does take a while to download though.

Look who came to visit us at school today - Benjamin Bear did!  He was up bright and early and dressed himself!  We think he had a good day and we were impressed at how quietly he did all his work.

Every afternoon four of the children in our class treat us to four surprises that they have popped into their paper bags.  They have some 'show and tell' goodies that tell us a little bit about them.  Here is the poem they have on their bags -
Today we heard all about Ana's kitten and she showed us how good she is at catching balls.  Edison also likes balls and he enjoys fishing too.  Herne is fascinated by Harry Potter and he showed us his Harry Potter wand as well as a photo that was taken of himself at Hogwarts Castle!  Hayden had lots of exciting photos taken of himself and some of the All Blacks during the Rugby World Cup.  He also had a special carved turtle necklace which came from Fiji.
