Latest News on our Caterpillars and Frogs!

Hooray!  We have a brand new Monarch Butterfly in our classroom today.  This morning we were all amazed at how dark the chrysalis had become over the weekend.  Then a just before morning tea, it emerged and ventured out into the world!  It's wings were still a little wet and crinkly so it held on to the shell of the chrysalis for the rest of the day.  We could see the butterfly's probiscus (tongue) as it did a taste test of the chrysalis.  We think it is a female Monarch since it doesn't have spots on it's wings.

We took it out into the sunshine and fresh air after lunch and watched it get ready to fly away.  Goodbye, Little Monarch, have fun finding nectar to eat and do lay lots of eggs so that we may see many more butterflies soon.

We continue to be fascinated by the changes taking place in our tadpoles too.  They are growing their legs already and it won't be too long before they start coming out of the water to sit upon the rock in their terrarium.  The photos were also taken today - look closely at those little legs!

Goodbye to Kailah

We are sad to be saying "Goodbye" to Kailah.  Her family have moved quite a long way from our area and so Kailah is off to a new school. We will miss her and do hope she settles happily there and makes lots of friends.

Helpful Hayden

Hayden received the weekly certificate to commend him for his wonderful attributes. He is caring, considerate and always ready to lend a helping hand.  Thank you, Hayden!

Junior Assembly

It was fun to go on stage to show off our lovely artworks at our Assembly.  Our butterflies and flowers were colourful and eye catching. Well done to Lara and Caleb who introduced our class item.

PMP

PMP stands for Perceptual Motor Programme which provides a range of skill building activities.  These develop eye-hand co-ordination, gross and fine movements, balance and opportunities to cross the midline.   Every we week spend time in the Performing Arts Centre where a variety of equipment has been set out for our use.  These change regularly and the children work hard at each station to hone their skills.

Here is a view of one of these sessions -

Insects

The teachers at our school are always learning new skills.  This week Mrs Shewring learned how to create a QR code so she wanted to try her new skills!

Did you know that insects ...

ICT Projects - Junior Breakfast Posters

Every Friday we go down to the ICT Suite where we work on developing our computer skills.  We are learning to log on and to use various applications.  This means we are learning to click and drag, to type and to manipulate objects as well as to work between various documents/windows.

Just look at the colourful posters we have created to celebrate our Junior Breakfast.
